Where to Buy Pokemon Singles in Ireland

You may be wondering where to buy single Pokemon cards in Ireland. This guide will present an overview of current options within the Irish market:

1. The largest source of single cards in Ireland is Cardmarket (cardmarket.com): Don't let the domain name fool you -- Cardmarket is located in Germany and acts as a massive seller of single or individual cards which are sold by private sellers; it is basically an Amazon for the trading card game industry, Pokemon included. Some larger sellers that exist brick and mortar entities do also sell on Cardmarket but by far the largest number of postings is by individual or private sellers. Overview:

   1. Advantages: trustworthy regarding the condition and validity of the Pokemon cards and poor sellers/scammers basically do not exist due to the hobbyist nature of the field and the rating/accountability system employed by Cardmarket.

   2. Disadvantages: As you may have imagined, the location and disjointed nature of Cardmarket mean that shipping times can be extensively long and shipping

prices can quickly reach exorbitant levels. A decent percentage of sellers exist outside the EU (UK and Swiss sellers) therefore you are unable to purchase from them unless you want to get hit with customs fees.

2. Irish-based TCG stores (e.g. Pokeshop.ie): These TCG stores exist within the niche industry of Pokemon singles; due to these stores specializing in TCGs, they build up a vast repertoire of cards and knowledge which they then provide to customers. Due to Pokemon TCG spanning 30 years there is a plethora of cards with various histories such as promo editions, artist attribution errors, shadowless cards, graphical errors etc. that all affect the rarity and collector value of cards. Add on top of that a familiarity with card rating (both ungraded and graded) and these hobbyist or niche stores are a great source of Pokemon singles.

3. Others large sellers such as Ebay.ie: Similar to Cardmarket, Ebay allows individual private sellers to use their platform to sell cards; however, the volume of sellers and cards on Ebay are considerably less than competitors making this a lesser preferred option.
